Before & After: How Custom Austin Wedding Signage Comes to Life

There’s a moment in every project I wish our couples could feel from the very beginning… the one where a rough mock-up finally becomes the real thing, standing tall at your celebration exactly the way we imagined it. Custom Austin wedding signage doesn’t just appear. It starts as a color palette, a few scattered ideas, sometimes nothing more than a “vibe” and a whole lot of trust. And then we build it into a statement piece that’s completely yours.

Where Every Design Actually Begins

Our clients are always curious about what the very first step looks like in the design process – the first conversation, the mood board stage, all of it. And the honest answer? It varies by each couple. Some come to us with a detailed breakdown of exactly what they’re looking for. Others have a color palette and a “style” but no real visuals yet. Either way is perfectly okay!

Once a couple books, our first step is a questionnaire based on the service they requested, whether that’s stationery or signage. It’s a little robust, because we’re trying to get to know you. We ask things like “What are your personal design styles?” and “Describe your wedding in three words.” We mix in the logistics too, with questions like “What do you want this sign to say, or do you trust the designers to come up with something?” That last one tells us so much about how hands-on or hands-off you want to be.

From there, our team pulls everything into a one-page creative direction mood board we use during your design meeting. It holds your color palette and the ideas we’ve brainstormed, and it helps us hone in on the statement pieces we’re going to make for you. Once those anchor pieces are set, the smaller details fall into place beautifully.

We love the couples who fully trust us and the creative process they hired us for. Getting to create things completely from scratch is our favorite thing to do. We don’t do “we saw this on Pinterest, can you copy it.” That’s just not us, and it’s not where our best work comes from.

The Letter Wall That Doubled as a Love Note

Bryn really wanted to hand-write notes to all of her guests, but she wanted to give it a bold, colorful, fun vibe. The turning point here was the bold color choices, which really brought this design to life. What looks simple in the finished photo was anything but. 😅 Every single letter had to be perfectly spaced from every angle. Letter walls look stunning and are so personal, but they’re a genuine labor of love to produce when they’re done right. We were very meticulous about placing everything perfectly. You can watch the whole process here. One of my favorite parts of this whole project: because we needed the letters in advance, Bryn dropped them off at our studio and got to see her wall in raw wood, before it was ever even painted green. So getting to see her reaction on her actual wedding day? Priceless.

The Bold Green & Pink Bar Menu

For this event, the couple wanted their bold color palette to stay alive across every detail. This playful bar menu, paired with its hot-pink signature cocktail card, did exactly that. The wavy borders and oversized “BAR” lettering kept things fun and cohesive. When a couple commits to bold, we run with it.

The Welcome & Unplugged Signs Made to Keep Guests Present

This couple wanted everything to be intentional, and for their guests to be fully present. These welcome signs were actually 3D boxes, because guests would be entering the ceremony from multiple directions and we needed them to look polished and presentable from the front and the back. We hid all our mechanics inside the bottom of the boxes, since this was an outdoor display on un-level ground. Effortlessly executed on the day, very much not effortless to build.

The Bar Menu That Started With a Dog

Watch this one closely, because the design mock-up and finished design are different variations. In the original mock-up, the couple wanted their dog sketched right onto the menu. But that design request changed during the process. On the final sign, the pup made way for these hand-illustrated cocktails, and he got his own moment over on the cocktail napkins instead. That kind of natural evolution is exactly why we love creating from scratch.

The Green Ombré Escort Card Display

These leaned into an “Austin chic meets the Riviera” feeling, with a color palette and vibe to play off of. This event was at the Loren Hotel, which sits on Lady Bird Lake. This gave us the perfect inspiration to start with. Each name sits on its own card in a graduating range of greens, from soft chartreuse to deep olive, tucked into curved wood stands and finished with delicate line illustrations…a martini, a palm, a calla lily, a couple mid-embrace. Displayed together in that sweeping arc, they turn a simple “find your seat” moment into a statement piece of its own.

Not Just Weddings

While weddings are our heart, that same intention shows up in everything we make for other events like baby showers, brunches, and corporate events. Take this Ralph Lauren-inspired plaid welcome banner we created for a baby brunch. I was simply given “Ralph Lauren” as the vibe, and it grew from there. That banner was stitched with a front and back fabric pattern, and here’s what seeing this online won’t tell you: fabric is often see-through or has a plain white backing. We made sure to double the fabric so this girl looked luxe from every side. The fabric was the star, and honestly, it still is. That’s part of why custom fabric pieces cost a little more. We’re just not in the business of putting out a low-quality product, no matter the occasion.

Why does custom signage cost more than what I’ve seen online?

Because custom shapes, specialty finishes, and quality materials genuinely cost more to produce than standard, ready-made pieces. A doubled fabric banner so it isn’t see-through, a letter wall spaced perfectly from every angle, 3D welcome boxes built to stand on uneven ground…these are the details that separate elevated signage from the basic version.

Do I need to know exactly what I want before I reach out?

Not at all. Some of our couples come with a detailed vision and others come with a color palette and a feeling. Both are perfect. Our questionnaire and design meeting are built to draw the vision out of you.

Can you match my florals and overall design?

Yes, and when we can work from your floral design board, our pieces come out even better. We’ll often mock up the renderings with your florals included, because this helps with visualizing the full picture.

How far in advance should I book my signage and stationery?

Sooner than you’d think. Custom design and production take real time, especially for specialty finishes and larger installs. Reaching out early gives us the runway to do it right, rather than rushed.
